The sun is shining. It’s finally warming up. As a senior citizen, should you go for a walk? Yes! There are many reasons to start a walking program. Research shows that first, you’ll feel better, and second, you’ll be around longer for friends, kids, and grandkids. Ideally, a basic program would include a 30-minute walk, 5 days a week. However, and this is Very Important: If you’re limited by chronic conditions, you should be as physically active as your abilities and conditions allow. Here are simple guidelines to get started:
- Consult your doctor
- Start slowly
- Stay hydrated
- Proper shoes and clothing
- Pace yourself
With a little preparation, you can get back outside safely, and have a better day!
