Arbor Day is dedicated to celebrating and promoting the importance of trees and forests. It encourages individuals and communities to plant and care for trees, thereby fostering environmental stewardship and awareness of the benefits of trees to our town, state, and planet. This year it’s celebrated on Saturday, April 26th. There are many ways to observe the day in our area. Two that are close by:
The Wildlands Conservancy on the 27th from 1:00 – 2:30 at the Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary in Emmaus. You can learn to identify Pennsylvania native trees and go on a hunt for wildflowers followed by a tree tea taste test! There is a fee; please register online here. For program questions, contact Haley D’Agostino at HDAgostino@wildlandpa.org
Kalmbach Memorial Park in Macungie is hosting an event on Sunday April 28th at 11:00am. Come and enjoy the nature paths and beautiful gardens, and help to plant trees! Sign up here.
Through tree planting and environmental education, Arbor Day encourages individuals to take action in preserving and enhancing our planet’s green spaces, here in Pennsylvania and beyond.
