Receiving recognition from the nation’s largest senior care rating and review site is indeed an honor. We were chosen, not just from the Lehigh Valley, but from among nearly 45,000 senior care communities in nearly every state and several Canadian provinces. Only 3% of those providers received this honor from SeniorAdvisor.com and A Place for Mom.
The year 2020 was full of challenges, and was a true test of the ability of senior care and living facilities to provide welcoming, safe, and engaging environments for new and existing residents. What is especially gratifying is that the winners were chosen based on community reviews from residents and their families, and all award winners boasted an average rating of 4.5 stars or higher throughout the award period (November 2019 – October 2020). The award spread encompassed several care types, not just memory care, so it was a formidable field.
The reviews that set the winners apart usually highlighted the activity programs, safety practices, and committed staff — three of many areas that define the patient care offered to every resident at South Mountain Memory Care. Reviewers also praised the winners for their resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic. Families and friends appreciate how the communities kept in close contact with them, maintained the appropriate safety measures, and used technology to engage with residents.
Despite the restrictions and challenges of COVID-19, South Mountain Memory Care provides families and caregivers with the resources necessary for moving and maintaining the dignity of dementia patients. We seek to limit isolation, provide the mental and physical stimulation needed, and reduce the stress of supporting a loved one.
South Mountain Memory Care focuses on high-quality, personalized care. South Mountain Memory Care is proud to offer a wide range of resident-focused daily activity programming to our residents. Each neighborhood offers activity space for group and one-on-one activities.
The brand-new building is a stand-alone memory care community, meaning that the entire building, staff, and programs, are designed to serve residents with cognitive issues. To ensure person-centered care and attention, we have accommodations for up to 28 residents. The building is divided into two neighborhoods (wings), each offering 10 private suites and 2 semi-private suites. South Mountain Memory Care is located in the Allentown suburb of Emmaus, Pennsylvania, and is easily accessible from the Lehigh Valley, New Jersey, and Philadelphia.
